If you’re thinking of purchasing wedding insurance through a UK company, it’s easy to think that you’ll only be covered for wedding services purchased in the UK. It’s a natural assumption, but we know that wedding arrangements aren’t always that simple.

That’s why our wedding insurance also covers ceremonies and receptions for weddings abroad too. We understand that many marriages unite families from across the seas. Different cultures and religious traditions may need to be catered for. Alternatively, you might just prefer the idea of getting married on sunnier shores but also wish to celebrate back home too!

What does our wedding insurance cover overseas?

Whether you’re having your wedding abroad or here in the UK, wedding insurance can offer real peace of mind. If a venue or a supplier goes into liquidation, something gets lost or damaged, or a special member of your wedding party becomes ill and you need to cancel, it can help you to rearrange or rectify your big day.

When you use our wedding insurance abroad, you’re covered for most of the same things as you are if you’re marrying in the UK, such as:

Cancellations and rearrangements
Loss, damage or theft
Sickness or injury (note, only a member of the party who the wedding is dependant, see T&Cs in the policy wording)
Document indemnity for replacement birth certificates, passports & visas
Up to TWO ceremonies and TWO receptions

Wedding insurance aboard – any restrictions?

Due to different rules and regulations, there are a few things that our overseas wedding insurance doesn’t cover, plus a couple of minor restrictions:

Date of reception must be within 56 days of your ceremony (this is standard across all weddings, UK and abroad)
No cover for marquees, ceremonial swords or public liability outside of the UK
No personal liability cover for weddings taking place within the USA or Canada
